Leaving the airport and getting ready to drive HWY 1 north to Finca La Anita. The drive from from San Jose was just over 5 hours. Rainy but fun. Finca La Anita This is the dorm where most of the Trinity boys sleep (or not sleep if they wake up to the birds). Short hike to test out the boots... crossing a stream in the rain forest.

The trip was long and tiring from 4 am (Louisville)  to 7 pm (Costa Rica) but it was filled with memories that all ready make it worth while. The bus trip was the most social of leg with everyone talking, singing, and getting to know each other. I do feel sorry for Ella having to sit at the back of the bus with the Trinity guys, but she did survive the 5 hour ride. We're all getting to bed early and will be ready for the first true day tomorrow.  Mitchell Meyer Mitchell's Friend Even though the trip felt very long and tiresome on our first day, I still enjoyed it very deeply. From leaving at the crack of dawn at 4 am Louisville time, to showering and falling asleep in our cabins, we had a lot of fun on our first day of our science research trip. We first flew to Atlanta and then to San Jose. Afterwards we had fun on a long bus ride, watching movies such as Geo-storm. We also had a great dinner and were then preparing for a nice breakfast. Trinity and Mercy student embark on their science research trip to Costa Rica.

I did... and the rumors are true. Trinity and Mercy will be traveling to a real-life organic rain forest chocolate farm. Run by Pablo and Ana, this is a 4 star eco-resort throughout the year. During the summer they shut down so we can visit and conduct research on leaf-cutter ants and butterflies.

You don't want to send your student out of the country unless you have dependable and knowledgeable adults to supervise. Don't worry, we have the best of the best going again this year. Here are our teachers: Mrs. Marilynn Bowman from Mercy Academy is a avid outdoors woman and this will be her 2nd trip to Costa Rica with Seeds of Change. Mr. Patrick Heintz is a science department co-chair at Trinity High School and will be on his 6th trip to Costa Rica. Mrs. Cynthia Smith is a science teacher at Lexington Catholic High School and she is also an experienced traveler (her 3rd trip with Seeds of Change). Mr. Steve Hammer is the new guy to the team. He is a STEM teacher at Trinity High School and will be a great asset to the teaching staff.

Trinity High School has 19 students traveling to Costa Rica: the best and brightest. I have worked with these young men this year and can honestly say: It is going to be a great trip! Go ROCKS!
